1. Courtyards

In many gardens grass is unfeasible or unwanted, and a paved garden is the ideal low maintenance solution, perfect for entertaining. There are many different paving choices with new and reclaimed materials, natural or man made, to cater for all different situations and tastes.

1.1 BRICK PAVED COURTYARD
A courtyard paved with second-hand London stock bricks in radiating bond under a spreading Magnolia tree gives this Victorian house a traditional feel.

1.2 DEALING WITH GARDEN ON DIFFERENT LEVELS
This newly built house has a very small garden set on different levels. Rendered retaining walls make planting spaces and traditional materials like sandstone setts and hardwood decking create an outside space for relaxing with all weather furniture.

1.3 A ROMANTIC VISION
This small plot to a Victorian house uses a stunning wrought iron pergola to create a stunning centre-piece, with a raised tree house and artificial turf play area.

1.4 A TINY SPACE
Even tiny spaces can be transformed into intimate green spaces to enjoy.
