2016 Carnival of Flowers
Vibrantly coloured, the exhibit is split into four sections and features cut flowers and potted plants from the UK, Europe, Africa and South America, with a street market style display.
Flowers ‘drawn’ from the outer beds are presented in a profusion of blooms for the spectacular central display. The fiesta feel, referencing the Rio Olympics and Carnival is to celebrate bringing people, flowers and plants together.
The central display evokes a communal meal with a table ‘laid’ as if for a street party. Bowls, jugs, plates, glasses etc. are set out and flower arrangements used to represent the food. The bottom tier shows the seating set with ‘cushions’ made from flower arrangements.
